Introduction

This site allows getting examples of how words are used within the context of a sentence for a number of languages.

The idea behind is not unique - the more examples you see/review, the better chances to memorize are.

I personally truly believe in drills and "overlearning" and since dictionaries usually offer only limited number of examples, I decided to fill that gap and created this tool.

Besides, even though old fashioned cards are good tool to memorize words, it is good to see the use of words in context.

There are two ways you can use this site:

- search of sentences containing particular word you are studying at the moment sorted by rank (e.g. you can find the sentences containing word "have")

- navigate via sentences with particular rank and then go up/down with the rank (e.g. you can find the sentences with rank 50 and case of English language that would be sentences containing "now")

The rank of the word is its position on the frequency list, e.g. the 5th most frequent word has rank 5.

Currently, the exact forms of the word are taken, that means that "have" and "has" have separate ranks.

The rank of the sentence is the rank of the word in the sentence with maximum rank.

Assigning rank to a sentence allows controlling difficulty to ensure that you concentrate on the word you are trying to understand right now, rather than have the sentence composed of purely difficult and so far unknown words.

As of today the languages are:

- Spanish

- Portuguese

- French

- Romanian

- Italian (sorry, not very extensive)

- English

More functionality and more languages shall be added step by step.

So, select the language at the top of the page and enjoy.
